Stylish Looks in Denim

There's probably one wardrobe piece that you have in common with your grand parents and parents- a pair of jeans. Although, the world of fashion has evolved enough and more styles to suit each one's persona, at the end of the day, a pair of denim jeans is a powerful fashion statement. Therein lies the twist. A good number of us slap on our jeans with a t shirt, shirt or top to match, giving credence to its popularity as a casual item of clothing. The fashion conscious however, beg to differ. Their claim is that just because denim is a wardrobe favorite does not mean that it can't be part of a mean ensemble. Denim is well known for its casual, club and hep styles. Youngsters are getting ready to experiment with denim and accessories in an entirely new way. For instance the 'borrowed from the boys' style featuring a trouser style jeans, a fitting vest and a cap to add, give girls a stylish touch. Or like Katie Holmes, wear a bright colored pair of heels with dark coloured jeans for a jazzy look. High wasted denim skirts teamed up with a smart top are slowly reappearing in social circuits. For those who like it sleek, tapered jeans tucked into dark coloured boots and a stylish handbag, are a must try. Or as the designer Phillip Lim proved, denim shorts worn over dark leggings and provocative stilettos or boots, gives you an all season funky party look. Gold embroidered jeans are in as well, with designs on the back pockets which show off a shapely figure. For the men, low-rise jeans for great bodies, skinny jeans to show off tapered legs and classic cuts are doing the rounds. Fashion experts advise men to have at least one well cut denim jacket in their wardrobe, to mix dark and light denim shades and to grow out of their sneakers.

Of course denim is still very much a part of our professional lives as well. Black wash jeans look subdued when paired with a blouse or sweater for women, whereas men can opt for shirt and jeans topped off with a jacket, for weekends.
